I'm so glad you're interested in my work! There's nothing quite as enjoyable as sharing my greatest passion with someone: capturing people and their personal stories.
And it turns out that this comes together perfectly at weddings, where people gather their most beloved ones. Guests do their best to look their best, family members and close friends speak beautiful, loving words to the couple. It's so personal to be present at such an occasion, even for me as a photographer.
On this day I'm learning so much about you. Sometimes, I also chat with one of the guests who shares a fun anecdote or recalls a hilarious memory. So, I'm really involved in the moment.
My mission
When I visit someone, I always look at the photos on the shelves or on the wall. I used to do this at my parents' home with my own childhood photos. I love seeing how my parents looked in the past. It's also quite amusing to see myself as a little kid. I often can't remember anything from those moments. But my parents always know the story behind the photo. That's when those fun anecdotes and beautiful stories come out. I really enjoy that.
I sometimes say that a photo becomes more valuable with time, and I believe that wholeheartedly. Because when you look at that selfie from yesterday and compare it to the photo of you on your first bike, which one means more to you? My mission is not just to capture memories, but to capture memories for the purpose of reliving them. Deep in your heart. With all the emotions and thoughts.
About me
I am Malou von Baumhauer. Born and raised in the The Hague area and now moved to Breda for the love of my life.
I enjoy family life with my husband and two children. Sometimes we go out with the four of us, but I also like to sit on the couch and watch Netflix.
My passion for photography started when I got my first camera at the age of 16. After a lot of practice with the dog and my sister, I became interested in portraits of models and became a fashion photographer. You can still see this editorial background in my current work.
Since I got married in 2016, I immediately fell in love with the wedding industry and work as a wedding photographer. I can honestly say with conviction that I have the best job in the world! Capturing love, meeting new people, discovering beautiful locations and eat delicious food: isn't that a dream job?!
The process

Together, we sit down to go over the day.
During the business part of our meeting, I'll ask questions about the schedule, provide some tips and get a clear picture of your wishes. We often end up chatting about all sorts of things, getting to know each other well. It's super important to have a good connection with your photographer (and vice versa). Such an introduction usually takes about an hour.
After this first meeting, I'll send you a custom proposal, tailored to your exact wishes.
After you've booked me, we'll make some arrangements regarding further communication. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, we'll go over the schedule and address any remaining questions.

And then your big day is here! I always make sure that I am there well on time. Then I can settle down and unpack my photography gear.
I'm the kind of wedding photographer who finds a balance between mingling with the guests and occasionally keeping an appropriate distance. When the ceremony is in progress I try not to stand in view of the guests and I mainly move in the background.
Of course, I try to be super alert to the story that is being told, because of the emotions it can stir up in everyone. Whether that is a burst of laughter or a tear. From the drinks onwards I mainly mingle and chat and drop a joke here and there, where appropriate. This way I can really feel the atmosphere of your wedding and I am sure that the final wedding report accurately reflects the day as it was.

The day after the wedding, you're still basking in a romantic haze, perhaps with a bit of a hangover.
And then, a message from me pops up on your phone and/or in your email. Instantly, you're reminded of how radiant you looked on your wedding day because, yes, I provide a sneak preview as quickly as I can! This is usually within 1 or 2 days. In the case of a destination wedding, it may take a bit longer.
And since I'm not a fan of waiting myself, I spare others from it too. I can tell you that you'll receive the full coverage through an online gallery within two weeks. But don't hold me to it, as sometimes it might take up to three weeks.
Are you heading on a honeymoon? No worries. You can access the online gallery anywhere with Wi-Fi, even on your mobile.

Tailor-made for you
Every package is tailored to your wishes. You might need a second shooter or you want me to start at a welcome dinner the day before. Maybe you love analog photos, or you just want a bigger photo album. And ofcourse additional hours. It’s all possible. To give you an idea. Your package will at least include the following:
• 6 hours photography.
• Introductory meeting to discuss all options.
• A sneak preview within 1 week.
• Online gallery, which you can share with friends and family.
• Digital photos carefully edited in high and low resolution.
• Gift album 15×20cm with 20 pages .

Editorial album
Rather don't want the mini album, but want an upgrade?
You let me know how you want your album to look. This includes details such as the number of pages, size, (artificial) leather or linen cover, color, design, and whether or not you want foil stamping or 3D printing.
Using cloud proofing, I create a layout. You review it to see if any changes are needed. Sometimes, you might want the layout to be different, or photos to be swapped, and I'll make those adjustments. You're allowed to make two rounds of changes. After that, I send it to my supplier. I have it delivered to my place so I can check if everything looks good. Then, the package is sent your way!

I deliver your gallery within 4-6 weeks.

About 50 images per hour, but it depends on your day: how many guests are present and how dynamic is the day (planning)?

I would love to travel to your wedding location somewhere in Europe.

If I am too sick and I really cannot come to work, I arrange a replacement. I am in WhatsApp groups with 20 photographers and have a whole network of colleagues outside of that. I always look for someone who suits me and has the same vision of capturing a wedding. I always do the editing and selection of the photos myself.

Cancellation is of course very unfortunate, but it can happen that the wedding does not go ahead. Then I refer you to my General Terms and Conditions. You will receive these when you book me, but you can also find them at the bottom of my website. They describe what happens to the deposit and the total costs.

Photography is all about images. People need to see my work to decide whether they want to book me. That’s how I make my living. If my work isn’t visible, I’ll lose clients. If you choose not to let me put anything online, that’s certainly possible, but you’ll pay 20% extra on the agreed amount. In consultation, we can of course also opt for a specific selection that is allowed online.

Yes, I also capture weddings with a 35mm camera and a Polaroid camera. This is an additional service and does not come at the expense of digital photos. I find the timeless atmosphere of this medium incredibly beautiful. Please let me know if you are interested.
